How to:
Transfer/Upload a config file from a VFD or Servo drive using SE SoMove through Ethernet.
Skill required to complete this article: Controls and level is No Skill Level Association.

OVERVIEW:

SoMove is user-friendly setup software for PC, designed to simplify device configuration to optimize the time spent on the field. SoMove can configure the following Schneider Electric motor control devices:

• Altivar Machine

• Altivar Process

• Altivar Building

• Altivar Soft Starters

• Lexium Servo Drives

• Motor Management system

 

1.- Disable the maintenance laptop firewall.

2. Connect your laptop to the drive with an ethernet cable using the rj45 port where the graphic display is plugged into.

If it's a servodrive, it requires an Ethernet/IP comm adapter: VW3A3616.

3.- Set the maintenance laptop to a fixed IP address within the same subnet that the drive you want to back up the config file from.

Windows Start Menu > Network and Sharing Center

click on Ethernet/LAN hyperlink > Select TCP/IPv4 > Properties

Select the radio button “Use the following IP address” and enter the recommended IP address and subnet mask below:

Note: This IP address should not be used by any other drive in the same network.

  

 

4.- Open up SoMove and follow the steps below to connect to the drive:

Edit Connection / Scan > Scan Result > Modbus TCP > Click on the gear wheel or settings icon

  

Advanced Settings > Target Address

Enter the IP address of the drive, select “Single” as the Scan Type and hit OK.

  

 


 

5.- Scan Network and the drive should show up, double click it or hit connect.

  

 

6.- After acknowledging the pop-up warning, SoMove is going to start transferring the config file from the drive.

  

 


 

7.- Disconnect SoMove from the drive

Communication > Disconnect from Device

  

 

8.- Save the config file.

File > Save As

Save it to a known location and keep the file extension *.psx.
