The Panda system or associated conveyor lane may stop unexpectedly due to incorrect sensor feedback.
Question/Problem
How to detect and resolve a misaligned photoeye causing conveyor or Panda system issues?
Environment
Conveyor systems using photoeye
Answer/Solution
A misaligned or improperly installed photoeye can prevent proper detection and stop conveyor or Panda operation. Use the following verification steps:
Verification Checklist
- Verify the photoeye is correctly positioned according to the electrical layout
- If using zones, confirm correct zone count
- If using distance, measure to confirm proper placement
- Verify the photoeye is skewed/aligned properly per layout
- Ensure the photoeye is securely mounted
- Verify the reflector is securely mounted (if applicable)
- For retro-reflective photoeyes, confirm the reflector is installed
- For diffuse photoeyes, verify proper adjustment
- For array photoeyes, ensure proper training/calibration
- For underroller diffuse photoeyes, confirm correct upward skew
- Verify the device label is present and correctly located
Resolution
- Adjust the photoeye alignment until a stable signal is achieved
- Secure all mounting hardware
- Clean lens and remove any obstructions
- Validate detection using HMI
- Confirm conveyor/Panda resumes normal operation
