Question/Problem

How do I clear an alarm on my PowerFlex 755 Universal Feedback Board, alarm 421 or alarm 244/245/246.

Environment

  • 20G PowerFlex 755
  • 20-750-UFB-1 Universal feedback Encoder Option Module

Answer/Solution

For the Alarm 244/245/246 is Port 4/5/6 Cfg Alarm

The Manual Description of this is:

The main control board does not have the correct option in the port. Option may not be compatible with product or MCB firmware must be updated to support it. Option may have to be moved or removed, accept option configuration change.
If using a UFB, ensure that the drive is a PowerFlex 755, not a PowerFlex 753. The UFB is not compatible with a PowerFlex 753. If it is the correct drive, try reseating the board, or powering down and disconnecting the encoder if one is connected.

For the Alarm XX421 such as 4421, 5421, 6421. This is an Initializing alarm.

The Manual Description of this is:

This alarm Indicates that the Universal Feedback State Machine is in the Initialize State.
This Type 2 alarm is provided to be sure that the motor cannot be started during this state. (But you may still be able to run the motor).

If this alarm will not clear, it means there was an issue with the board initializing correctly.

  1. Try and re-seat the board in the port.
  2. If alarm persists, move board to another port.
  3. If alarm persists in another port, and an encoder is connected, power down and remove the encoder and power up.
  4. If nothing works replace the board.
