How to:
Configure a Schneider Advantys STB 2212 (Ethernet/IP) Network Interface Module
Skill required to complete this article: Computer Aptitude and level is Intermediate.

The STB NIC 2212 NIM comes from the factory without IP parameters. Therefore, it is necessary to assign an IP configuration to the NIM before you can configure the Advantys island for operation on an EtherNet/IP network.

PREREQUISITES:

1.- Set up your laptop wired ethernet's NIC to the same subnet than the STB 2212 modules.

2.- Disable all firewall profiles through Windows Security.

3.- Turn off your wifi network adapter.

4.- Download the bootplt.exe, preferably under C:/Documents/Downloads and execute it as admin to download its binaries onto your machine local files.

Assign an IP Address to the STB NIC 2212

1.- Set the rotary switch on the STB NIC 2212 NIM to the BOOTP position.

2.- Launch a cmd prompt session or powershell.

3.- Navigate under the Windows directory where you put the bootplite.exe file.

4.- Power up the STB 2212 network interface module and wait for ~90 seconds for the boot sequence to complete.

5.- Flash the desired IP address to the Comm Adapter (MAC vs IP):

C:\File path\bootp lite> .\bootplt 000054###### 192.168.70.##

  - The 000054###### needs to be replaced for the actual MAC/Global address.

- Hit Y when prompted to confirm the desired IP address does not already exist on the network.

6.- A “Continue BOOTP initialization” message will show and then wait for the “You should power cycle the Ethernet module now” to do so.

7.- After power cycling the STB 2212 network interface module, you should see the following messages:

“Sending bootp message 10 of 10”“BOOTP broadcast sequence complete”

8.- Verify the network interface module has been correctly flashed with its IP:

C:\File path\bootp lite> ping 192.168.70.##

- The directory where the prompt is pointing to is irrelevant.

- If you get a reply back from the Comm Adapter, you can now proceed to configure the Network Settings.

Configure a stored IP

Configure a stored IP address so that you don’t have to run an address server every time you cycle power to the NIM.

1.- Access the network interface module's Web Server through Edge in IE mode by entering the IP address you bootp'd in the steps above.

2.- Hit Enter.

3.- Enter the username USER and the password USER and press OK.

4.- Click on the Configuration tab to access the configuration page.

5.- Click on Configure Stored IP to access the network settings menu and enter the previously flashed IP address, along with a subnet mask and a gateway.

6.- Click Save, then click OK on the save successful screen.

7.- Move the module's rotary switch to the STORED position.

8.- Power cycle the module and verify it shows online on your application (MC4, BOSS).
